Babes in Disneyland: Quiet Places

events or a child with autism, these spots may provide your child with a needed break from the chaos.

Snow White's Grotto (pictured above right)
Tucked away in front and to the east of Sleeping Beauty castle, Snow White's Grotto is a peaceful spot where you can regroup with your children. While there is no where to actually sit and rest, it is a place where you can break from the glaring noises of the park.

(The statues were donated to Disneyland by an Italian sculptor, thus they do not have the likeness to Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs you would expect from a Disney artist.)

Big Thunder Trail
Located along the side and back side of Big Thunder Mountain
Railroad, Big Thunder Trail is the route visitors can take from Frontierland to Fantasyland. This area can be quite peaceful and does have benches along the way. It is important to note that there is a small smoking area along the trail, so beware of second hand smoke!

The Baby Center
Because some children need a quiet place for a diaper change, potty training reinforcement, and/or feeding, the Baby Center is a must.

Pirate Island (formerly Tom Sawyer Island)
This can be a more peaceful part of the resort.  There is a quiet
picnic area near the restrooms on the island.  A great place to eat lunch and the quiet.  The rafts over to the island can be a bit noisy and crowded, so if you have a child who has anxiety or issues with either of these, the trip over might be difficult; however, it might be worth it in the end for the peace he/she may find on the island.

Main Street Cinema
The dark cinema featuring some of Mickey's earliest films is indeed more peaceful than much of what is found in the rest of the park. It is an especially wonderful place to hang out when you are trying to escape the rain--which is the only time you are likely to find more than a few people linger in there.

First Aid
The first aid center is located at the end of Main Street between the Plaza Inn Restaurant and the Baby Center. There, nurses can help you with any medical problems you may have while visiting the park. (They can even help if you have broken your glasses. The screw fell out of my sunglasses during one visit. It landed in my stroller amazingly enough and they had a screwdriver I could use to fix them.)

Like any medical facility it has exam rooms and cots.  If you have a child who suffers from severe anxiety issues, I would try the first aid center as a last result before packing in early on a trip.  I think that they may just be able to help.

Carnation Plaza Gardens
Located off of Central Plaza, to the west, Carnation Plaza Gardens is sometimes used for swing dancing or special guest performers at Disneyland.  (Both of which are no longer the norm for this area.)  When these things are not going on, this area of the park is very, very quiet.

Finding a quiet place to take a break with your baby or toddler while visiting Disneyland is no easy feat. There is an abundance of noise around you at every turn and with every step.  There are a few refuges in the park that can offer some peace and quiet. If you have a child who suffers from anxiety around crowds or loud
