Past Tips
Bring your kids’ pajamas with you when you plan a late day trip to the Disneyland Resort. Give the kids a quick wipe down and change them into their jammies before the drive home and you’ll be able to slip them right into bed straight from right from the car.
Don't get stuck paying ATM fees while at Disneyland! If you need to get cash to spend at Disneyland for popcorn, balloons, etc., simply stop by City Hall (located on the west side of Main Street) and purchase Disney Dollars. They are bills that come in ones, fives, and tens and can be used as cash (the same dollar for dollar exchange) at the Disneyland Resort. At the end of your visit, you can cash in any unused dollars for regular cash or save a few for souvenirs!
Tie a large ribbon, piece of fabric, scarf, or other identifier onto your stroller so that it is easier for you to pick out of a crowd and less likely to be mistaken for someone else's.
Bring a refillable water bottle and fill it up with the filtered water offered throughout the park. You're helping the environment by not using a plastic, disposable bottle and saving yourself major money over buying them at $3 each at Disneyland.
A delicious Dole Whip is a wonderful summer-time treat. The problem is that there is only one place to get a Dole Whip at Disneyland--at the Tiki Juice Bar at the entrance of Adventureland. The line is often very long; however, you can get a jump on the line for this frosty sensation by lining up inside the Enchanted Tiki Room waiting area instead of the long line that often extends far into Adventureland. Most guests do not know that there are two lines from which the Cast Members serve guests.
If you are booking a hotel room, make sure to call the hotel before booking to find out their distance from the freeway. Many of the hotels around Disneyland are adjacent to the 5 freeway and some are RIGHT ON the freeway. I've learned this the HARD way. Do your comparison shopping through the different online travel sites and then before booking, give the hotels you are interested a call.
Want a great place to sit and watch the parades at Disneyland? Make a reservation to eat lunch or dinner at the Carnation Cafe on Main Street U.S.A. When considering the parade times in relationship to your reservation time, remember that the first parade of the day steps off from "it's a small world" in the north part of the park and the second parade steps off from Main Street. You can make dining reservation by calling (714) 781-DINE. You can find out the parade times for the day of your visit by logging on to Disneyland's website.
If you are visiting on a day when Fantasmic! will be shown in the evening, consider putting off riding the attractions in the west side of the park at night when they are a lot less crowded! The west side of the park will be packed with guests waiting to see Fantasmic!, not waiting to go on some of your favorites like Pirates of the Caribbean or the Haunted Mansion.
Looking for the cheapest souvenir at Disneyland? It’s a 48 cent sucker. It’s a great bribe when your kids don’t want to leave the “Happiest Place on Earth.” The small, red Mickey Mouse head-shaped suckers are available at numerous locations throughout the park, but we always get ours after we pass through the exit at the Newsstand--the gift stand halfway inside / halfway outside the main gate.
