New Orleans Square
Attractions Suitable for Babies and Toddlers
Evaluating the suitability of the attractions in New Orleans Square is really up to each individual family. Here are the facts as I see them:
-
•Pirates of the Caribbean
The attraction is safe for all ages. There are two short drops, but children are safe if sitting with an adult. (Babies can be on an adult’s lap or in the baby carrier/sling.) The subject matter of the attraction can be a little bit scary for some children. There are some battle scenes and the audioanamatronic figures are extremely lifelike. My kids think it’s a bit intense and aren’t crazy about it, but they are a bit on the sensitive side. At age 2, my boys were too afraid of this attraction. By age 4, it was a favorite. -
•The Haunted Mansion
The attraction is perfectly safe for small children, but might be too scary for toddlers and preschoolers. Again, my kids are a bit sensitive though.

Food
-
•The French Market serves great food and large portions--enough to split (at least for my family).
-
•The Royal Street Veranda is a walk-up, fast serve restaurant located next to Pirates of the Caribbean and has yummy clam chowder in a bread bowl. It is an absolute must!
-
•Cafe Orleans is a sit down with food similar to that at The French Market. The food is good and it’s a nice place to relax and people watch.
Shopping
-
•If your little pirate can't leave Disneyland without a swashbuckling souvenir, then you must visit the Pieces of Eight located near the exit of Pirates of the Caribbean. There are pirate trinkets for guests of all ages. My pirate lover can’t get enough of this store.
-
•There are a number of specialty shops in New Orleans. If you have a couple of minutes to spare, you may want to browse through them.
Services
-
•Restrooms are available back by the train station behind the French Market restaurant.
