Babes in Disneyland

luxurious hotel choice for families.  The hotel recently underwent a $60 million dollar renovation.  The contemporary design features a rich color palette that contrasts with bright white linens to create a serene and inviting space. Floor to ceiling windows in each room allow commanding views of either Disneyland, the pool, sundecks or the surrounding area.

What’s Great?

The staff is accommodating and polite. The hotel is conveniently located close to Disneyland (and the Convention Center), and it is as beautiful as it is comfortable. Oh, and with a Starbucks and Sbarro on the Lobby Level, how can you go wrong?

The Hilton Anaheim is the right hotel for families who want a little more than "just a place to sleep."  There's times when I travel with the kids that's been ok, but then there's times when I want to stay at a hotel that still makes me feel like I'm an adult on vacation and the Hilton Anaheim does just that. It is luxurious while still accommodating the needs of families.  The Hilton Anaheim has a kids' playroom and kids' activities.  The Hilton and its rooms also feature:

  1. Hilton Serenity Bed

  2. 32" flat panel TVs with HBO, CNN, Disney Channel, ESPN, and children’s programming on demand for about $2.99.  That can be a lifesaver for kids used to their favorite shows ready on TiVo at all times.

  3. Digital connectivity panel for your personal electronic devices

  4. Work desk with ergonomic chair

  5. High speed wireless internet for a fee (although if you follow the Anaheim Hilton on Twitter, you can sometimes get discounts that include free internet)

  6. Covered parking for $15 per day.

The rooms are incredibly clean, comfortable, and relaxing.  The hotel is also very, very quiet.  I don’t have super noisy kids and I have found that it is difficult for them to sleep in noisy hotels and motels.  This is certainly not the case at the Hilton Anaheim.

What’s Missing?

Because the hotel is so close to
the convention center, it is beautifully furnished for business travelers.  It would have been nice to have had a small table and couple of chairs (instead of the desk and work chair) for the kids to eat or color at.  This hotel does not offer kid/family suites. Kid/family suites are hotel/motel rooms with a separate sleeping/entertainment area for the children.  These rooms are typically separated by a wall or pocket doors.  Having a corner room with the sitting area allowed us to create a separate sleeping area for our children.

Anaheim Hilton Tips

A corner room is clearly the way to go when requesting a room at this hotel. Our corner room had a refrigerator (a MUST for families), an extra chair because of large sitting area, view of the pool and Disneyland Resort, and enough room for our kids to run around like crazy.  Smaller rooms do not have refrigerators, and I highly recommend calling the front desk before your visit to get one put into your room and, if possible, a corner room.  The hotel’s check in time if 4p.m., which can be rough when taking naps into consideration, so call and ask for an early check in.  The hotel has pretty generous check out time of noon.

Does this hotel get the Babes in Disneyland “Babes-Friendly Seal of Approval?”

Yes it does!  I love this hotel and plan on staying there again.  It’s super clean and has great staff.  My kids like it and feel very comfortable there.  We love the Sbarro and Starbucks downstairs and how close it is to Disneyland and restaurants like Coco’s and Mimi’s.
